Letter to the Editor: Sharing educational skills and customer service skills in the world of golf.

300-letterI wanted to comment on the class I just completed with Mr. Bill Rice in Las Vegas. I must say, I have been to many golf schools around the country from Golf Digest to some of the most well-known names at the highest level in
the industry. Simply, I learned more in 10 minutes from Mr. Rice than I did in many years as a student in these other schools.

With that said, let me preface what I’m about to say as valid and factual. I have spent my entire career in the world of bowling, from owning four centers of my own for 32 years to being considered as the national instructor of the year in 2000 and 2008. I have written two books and have done several videos on instruction and player development for the bowling industry. I was completely impressed at the material that was covered, and it mirrored what I would do in the bowling industry classes.

My goal and desire is to continue to drive to Level 4 and bring the same value I brought to over 46,000 lessons I gave in bowling to the world of golf. I grew up in the world of golf, as my family owned a golf course, so the sport has been in my blood all my life. Now that I have retired from the world of bowling, I want to share my educational skills and customer service skills to the world of golf.

Mr. Rice was an exceptional teacher, as he put me through drills and situations as a player, but focused on situations of detection and evaluation for my future students. I mentioned to Bill that when he does his class in the fall in Vegas, I would love to come down and serve as his assistant, because I am going to go to Level 4, and in my opinion, this would serve as a good training ground for the future.

At any rate, I just wanted your office to know that I was very pleased with the certification process and I look forward in sharing what I have learned with hundreds of golfers from all walks of life. It’s a pleasure and a honor to be a part of OUR wonderful organization.

Best Regards,
Jimmy Sturm
