4th Annual Warrior Open
It’s not every day that a USGTF member gets to hit a ball in front of a former president of the United States, but that’s what happened to USGTF member Anthony Netto this past October. Netto was on hand at the 4th annual Warrior Open, put on by the George W. Bush Institute, as a guest. Netto, who was paralyzed in an automobile accident 20 years ago, was demonstrating the Paragolfer, a mobile “wheelchair” that allows paralyzed people to play golf.
Netto, the founder of the Stand Up and Play Foundation, was an invited guest this past year. The foundation’s goal is to provide wheelchair users with the means to participate in recreation and sporting events, and was pleased to assist America’s wounded warriors in getting these chairs.
Oh, the results of Netto’s shot in front of President Bush? 270 yards, right down the middle of the fairway.
